SDP Connection: Engagement in Learning
This week, I had the opportunity to spend some time in a Grade 5/6 classroom during a highly engaging science lesson. And how would I describe it? Messy, loud, wet, and absolutely beautiful!
Students were busy designing, building, and testing boats to explore the concept of buoyancy. They were making predictions, testing their thinking, collecting and tabulating data, and learning from their successes (and failures). Most importantly, they were having an incredible amount of fun. In fact, the students were so immersed in their learning that they barely noticed I had walked into the room!
This is student engagement at TRS.
As we continue our work toward our School Development Plan goals, we know that engagement is about more than simply keeping students busy. It is about creating meaningful learning experiences that spark curiosity, invite students to take risks, encourage collaboration, and give students ownership of their learning. When students are genuinely engaged, the learning becomes visible in their questions, conversations, problem-solving, and excitement.
Sometimes, great learning is a little messy. Sometimes it's loud. And sometimes it involves a lot of water on the classroom floor! That's okay. In fact, that's exactly what we want to see.
Be sure to check out our school Instagram for a closer look at the learning in action!
Remembrance Day at TRS
On November 10, families are invited to our Remembrance Day Ceremony. Doors will open at 10:50 and the ceremony will start at 11. We will be collecting donations for the Veteran's Food Drive, so please consider bringing a non-perishable food item!
Learning Commons Update- Ms. Bouchard
The library has been filled with stories, sharing, and a little Halloween spookiness! Leading up to Thanksgiving, we read stories about gratitude and the importance of spending time with friends and family. The students were very engaged and excited to share their own Thanksgiving plans. As we moved closer to Halloween, we switched to spooky stories to get everyone into the Halloween spirit. The students have enjoyed exploring these seasonal stories and sharing in the excitement of the changing seasons!

need to be a parent/guardian except for Key Positions.
Let's have some fun and make some $$$!

If you have any questions or want to know more about any of the
positions, please contact our casino fundraising coordinator Holly
Clark at hmmcbride05@gmail.com.
Swimming Volunteers
We have Swimming Lessons November 16-19 and require both male and female volunteers to help our students in the change rooms.
This year, we will need parents to meet the students at the pool instead of riding on the school bus. There are both morning and afternoon shifts to choose from.
