Dear Terrace Road Families,
We are thrilled to welcome everyone back into the Terrace Road School building for the 2024-25 school year. Although we were only able to work with your children for 1.5 days this week, things are already rolling along across the grades as classroom communities start to take shape. It was so nice to see everyone on Thursday morning for our Annual Welcome Back Coffee. If we did not get a chance to chat, and you would like to, please know that my open door policy continues!
Communication
At Terrace Road School, we are committed to strong and clear communication with students and families. This communication needs to be timely, relevant and concise. We want to ensure that we are utilizing teaching and learning time to the best of our abilities as well while students are in our care. It is with these tenents that we have made some decisions to slightly alter our processes. Students have each been designated a "communication folder" that they will use to bring home newsletters and artifacts of learning. We will work through the growing pains of this process as a community. When artifacts of learning come home, there should be a place for parents to sign to indicate they have seen their child's work. We have also switched from agendas to a one-click digital blog for each teacher. In that blog, there will be important dates to remember, as well as an in-depth snapshot of an artifact of student learning. Our goal is to provide a deeper, relevant understanding of children are doing inside of classrooms each week. These will be sent to parents on Friday afternoons, but I suggest you bookmark this blog, and that of your child's teacher, in order to visit frequently.
To highlight the great things happening at our Terrace Road School, we will also host monthly Celebrations of learning, in which different classes will take the lead to showcase their current learning to the rest of the school. The goal is to highlight student work and shed light on the great things happening in our community. These Celebrations of Learning will be in-house gatherings.
