Welcome Back!

Good morning, Terrace Road Families! Welcome back to another amazing week at Terrace Road School! This will be a busy week of learning and spending time out doors, as the weather continues to be quite amazing! We hope that everyone is settling into their fall routines and that your children are adjusting well to school!

School Forms and Volunteering

A reminder that all school forms are due back today. This includes the mandatory demographic forms, which can be found and completed online, as well as the student-signed Admirable Use of Technology forms. These forms are essential for updating our records and ensuring that every student has the supports they need.

If you are interested in volunteering, or if you are unsure of your current volunteer status, please phone the office and connect with Sherisse. She will be happy to work with you to create a plan so that you can begin volunteering as soon as possible.

The Terrace Road Corn Roast

Our Corn Roast was a huge success! The event, coupled with amazing weather, was such a great way to kick off our school year at Terrace Road! A huge shout out goes to our TRS School Council for organizing and running the Corn Roast, as well as to our numerous volunteers who did everything from husking the corn, to setting up, selling, taking down! The money we were able to raise will be used in good ways to support student learning at Terrace Road!

Student Lates & Soft Entry

This is a reminder our new bell times and process in the morning. Our soft entry bell will go at 8:38. At this point, students will be able to enter the school and get ready for their learning days. There is a 5 minute 'soft entry', and the firm 8:43 start to our day. Students arriving after 8:43 will be marked late, and are asked to come to the front doors of the school so that Mrs. Harbourne can let you in and ensure that all students are accounted for.

School Zone Safety

We have received a number of phone calls from concerned parents and neighbours regarding driving practices inside of our school zone. Please ensure you are abiding the speed limit of 30 km/hr and that you are not doing U-Turns in the school zone, as these can lead to accidents and pedestrian injuries.

Lost and Found Items

We are accumulating many lost and found items at the school. Our lost and found location can accessed outside of the learning commons. We will routinely be donating items that have been left for a long duration of time to our local Thrift Stores. We will send pictures electronically of items- if you recognize any items, please feel free to come in a grab them.

Clothing Donations

We are seeing a rise in the need for particular clothing items at Terrace Road School. We need pants in sizes ranging from 5 years to 12 years. We would also love to have some shoes in our collection, underwear (NEW and in all genders) and socks. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Communication at TRS

Our goal at Terrace Road School is to maintain timely, open, and effective communication with all families. We want everyone to feel connected to what students are learning in class and aware of upcoming activities.

This year, you can expect:

  • Weekly classroom blog updates from teachers
  • Communication folders with current learning artifacts
  • Phone calls from teachers to share successes and maintain strong connections
  • TRS Instagram: @terraceroadcbe for a window into the learning happening at Terrace Road School.

We believe that working in partnership with families helps every child thrive, and we look forward to ongoing collaboration throughout the year.

School Council

Our first School Council meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 25, at 6:00 p.m. I encourage all families to come out and take part in this important council, which plays a direct role in supporting student learning and strengthening the sense of community at Terrace Road School. Your voice and perspective are invaluable, and we hope to see many of you there.

Closing Thoughts

Thank you once again, Terrace Road families, for your continued support of our school and programming at Terrace Road. We love this community, and are looking forward to an amazing year this year!
