Fall Dance
It was wonderful to see everyone who was able to attend the school dance this past Thursday! The chance to be together, connect, and have a good time is so important in our community! Thank you for coming!
Halloween
This Thursday, we invite students to dress in a Halloween costume, or in orange and black! Students will change after the lunch recess, and we will have our annual around-the-block parade at 3:00 p.m. Kindergarten students will do an in-school parade in the morning at 10:50. Please feel free to come out and support the community!
Family Survey
Part of our commitment to families at Terrace Road is that we are open, clear and transparent with communication. Family voices matter and are always into consideration when decisions are being made. If you have not already done so, please take 5 minutes to complete this Fall Family Survey: https://forms.office.com/r/1AR3rwZUcx

Winter Clothing
With winter approaching, we are looking to restock our supply of extra jackets, toques, gloves, and boots. We will continue to be going outside, until -20, and we want to ensure that everyone can take part! If you have any gently used, or new winter clothing items, please do feel free to send them to the school—they will be used!!
Clothing
We have had several families reach out and ask if they can donate food to our school. We believe we have enough snacks for now in order to ensure that no one goes hungry while at school. However, we could use some donations of gently used or new clothing—sweat pants, t-shirts and boys and girls underwear, are particularly low (more in our kindergarten-Grade 3 bins). If you have any gently used items, or if you happen to have new gear that you do not need, we would gladly accept it!
Lost and Found
The irony is not lost on me that in my second update, we are communicating that we have an abundance of unclaimed clothing in our lost and found—it is a giant mass of clothing that will be donated in the next little while. We will send home pictures this week, or if you feel you are missing any items at home, please feel free to come in and take a look! We have two lost and found locations… near our k-2 entrance, and right near our main entrance.
TRS Clubs
TRS Clubs will be starting this week. We thank the staff and students for being so invested and involved in this process! We look forward to the excitement!
Casino
Our TRS Fundraising Society Casino is coming up on December 4th and 5th. We are able to provide so much for our students because of these two nights! We typically raise between $70000 to $80000 which provides:
1. Field trips
2. In-school experiences
3. Technology
4. Library Books
5. Resources
Because this Casino fundraiser can not run without volunteers, please do consider signing up to volunteer HERE: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040B48ADAB23A4FB6-52238685-trscasino
Also, Casino Volunteers often get a good meal and great company!!!
Art Card Fundraiser
“The children's art is online and we are ready to launch the fundraiser!
Families can see their child's art online at www.TheCardProject.ca
with the school's access code: TR78
The priority order deadline is Sunday, October 27.
The final order deadline is Monday, November 11.”
Communication
Each Friday, teachers have time to update their blogs and make sure that families have a window into the learning of their child’s classroom! Please do take time to read through the short messages, see the pictures, and use the update to engage in conversation with your child about learning happening at school! When we are all all-in on student learning, students feel supported, safe, and secure in taking risks in their learning and we all have a clear understanding of what students are currently able to do in their learning.
Communication Folders will be a key aspect of our vision for communication this year between home and school. These folders are zip-up, durable plastic folders that will contain student artifacts of learning for parents to look through with their children, ask questions about, and engage in learning from the home. When there is an artifact of learning, there will be a signature page attached, with room for a parent comment as well.
Have a beautiful week, Terrace Road Families!!!
