Good morning! Welcome to our second last week of learning at TRS this year! We hope that everyone is well, healthy, and getting ready for summer!
Sports Day
We will have our annual sports day on June 25, which has historically been a great way to end our year on a super positive note! Our sign-up to volunteer for the sports day can be accessed here: Sports Day Volunteers here:

Garden Clean-Up Volunteer Sign-Up
Each year, we have a dedicated group of volunteers, that not only clean up our beautiful garden, but maintain it throughout the summer and early fall months. If you would like to volunteer for an initial clean-up of this important learning space, please do so HERE.
Grade 6 Celebration
Our Grade 6 celebration/farewell will be happening in the morning of June 24th at 10:30 a.m. Please come and celebrate these amazing learners as they prepare for the next steps in their academic journeys! Families can arrive at 10:15 to find seating and to get ready for the celebration. If you have not yet sent in your child's baby photo, please do so promptly to Ms. Garthus or Ms. Brown. Due to limited space in our gym, and our number of grade 6 students (40+), please be mindful of the number of invitees.
Daily Lates
We continue to process a number of lates on a daily basis- upwards of 20-30 per day. Each of these lates averages to roughly 10 minutes of lost school time in a day, which over the course of a month could equal 200 minutes of instructional time. If you recieve a letter from myself, please connect with the school to ensure we can work together on plan to reduce the number of lates, both this year and next.
Kindergarten- 2026/27
If you know anyone with kindergarten aged children that have not yet registered, please encourage them to do so promptly as we are constructing classes currently. All students who are registered with Summit Kids will automatically be placed in our a.m. kindergarten class, and all other students will be placed in the p.m. This is, of course open to discussion.
TRS Grade Configuration and Team in 2026-2027
We are excited to present our configuration and teaching assignment plan for the 2026-27 school year at TRS. Each year, we spend time looking over scenarios, budget and possibilities within our school, always using student learning as our focal point and basis for decisions. Within this plan, there is still room for staffing changes, as teacher open rounds for job applications to other sites open up and teachers make decisions for their careers etc.
5/6 Team- Rianna Garthus, April Brown, and Aida Javed
3/4 Team- Danielle Stetz and Nadia Mostaghel (temporary hire for first part of the year)
1/2 Team- New Hire, Jocelyn Hachey and Madeline Kinnear
ALP- Jenaya Haacke-Sutherland
AM Kindergarten- Heather Wacker
PM Kindergarten- Laura Osadetz
Music- Katie McMillan
Resource- Hooda Hassen
Intervention Teacher- Tina Bisson
Principal- Dan Buchanan
These staffing decisions are based on our current enrollment, and additional changes may occur prior to the end of September, as student numbers settle. Class sizes will remain quite small, ranging between 20-25 students.
Class Rosters
Our staff is currently putting some very intentional and thoughtful work into building class rosters for next year. When we make these decisions, there are a number of factors involved, including dynamics, friendships, learning, relationships with all staff, and student voice. As such, we will listen to parent requests always, but know that decisions can not always reflect parent asks, and that there will be a rationale for this. Teachers will reach out to students and families in late August welcoming them into their home rooms for the school year.
Have a wonderful week, everyone! I hope that everyone's garden is in full bloom!
