Welcome to the Week
As we begin another week at Terrace Road School, we are excited to continue building a positive and engaging learning environment for all students. The energy and enthusiasm in our classrooms are wonderful to see, and we are looking forward to another week of learning, growth, and community connection.

TRS Winter Concert – “Once Upon a Snowman”
Students are working with terrific energy as they prepare pieces for our upcoming Winter Concert, Once Upon a Snowman, on December 11th. Performances will take place at 10:00 a.m. (during the school day) and 6:00 p.m. in the evening. For the evening performance, students should arrive in their classrooms by 5:40 p.m. to store coats and get organized for a prompt 6:00 p.m. start. Students in the Performing Arts group may put their belongings away and go directly to the Music Room.

Please note that, in order to include all students in the concert, there may be capacity challenges. We kindly ask families to limit attendance to immediate family members whenever possible. Families may also attend the daytime student audience if they wish. There will be no tickets issued for this event; seating will be first come, first served.

Students do not need any special costumes or clothing for this performance; they should wear something that makes them feel confident and ready for a fun show. If you have any questions, please contact Katie McMillan at kamcmillan@cbe.ab.ca.

Thank you for your ongoing support—we look forward to sharing this special event with you!

School Logo Survey
We are excited to invite families to participate in a short survey regarding our new school logo. This is an opportunity for families to share their input, while also recognizing that students will have their voices heard. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen our identity and sense of belonging as a learning community.

You can complete the brief survey here: School Logo Survey

New Kindergarten Registration – Opens January 12
Terrace Road School will begin accepting Kindergarten registrations on January 12. Families are encouraged to review the registration details and prepare any necessary documents in advance. For more information, please visit the CBE website: Kindergarten Registration Information

Winter Weather Preparedness
As colder weather sets in, we want to ensure that all students remain safe, warm, and ready to learn throughout the school day. Please ensure your child arrives at school each day dressed appropriately for winter conditions, including snow pants, mittens, a toque, and warm winter boots, especially for outdoor recess and physical activity.

We also request that every student keep a pair of indoor shoes at school. This helps maintain dry, safe hallways and ensures students are comfortable in their classrooms after coming in from the snow.

Thank you for supporting a safe and healthy winter season at Terrace Road School.

School Zone Safety
With winter upon us and daylight hours changing, it is particularly important that we work together to maintain safety in our school zone. Our student patrols are active each morning and afternoon, assisting families at the designated crosswalks. Please remind your children to follow their guidance and wait for the patrols’ signal before crossing.

We ask all families to support a safer school environment by observing posted speed limits, avoiding jaywalking, and always using marked crosswalks—even if it requires a few extra steps. Modeling these safe habits reinforces important safety lessons for our students.

Finally, we encourage families to discuss the importance of being alert when crossing the street. Looking both ways, pausing before stepping off the curb, and minimizing distractions such as headphones or phones can make a meaningful difference.

Thank you for helping ensure the safety of all members of our Terrace Road community.

Closing Thoughts
As we move through December, there are many exciting opportunities for students and families to be involved in school life—from concerts and surveys to upcoming registration events. Your continued engagement, support, and partnership make a real difference in building a strong, connected learning community at Terrace Road School. We look forward to celebrating the season, learning together, and sharing many special moments with you in the weeks ahead.
